The Trend Setter

Innovating | Imaginative | Intuitive

Think of yourself like a beautiful mare unbridled, wild and free. You prefer an unstructured, free and creative environment without routine. You thrive on out of the box, conceptual thinking, problem solving and being independent. Laser focus can sometimes be difficult for you because you are always daydreaming about the next big thing.

Among all the thinking styles, you are the most challenged when it comes to organization. It’s totally fine though because that’s what makes you even more unique! Traditional organization simply will not work for you and it’s important to understand that there’s nothing wrong with you! You just need to find a way that works with you and not against you. Listen to your intuition when it comes to your organizing style. You must do something that works with your energy in order for it to feel right.

When it comes to organizing, you’d rather, just... NOT. And although others may view you as spacey, flighty or weird, the fact is that the world needs your creative spirit to feel inspired and have more fun.

ORGANIZING STYLE

Your organizing style should reflect your uniqueness, so don’t deny your talents in order to fit into social or traditional norms! You’ll lose yourself in the process. Doing this will inhibit rather than stimulate your natural talents, such as creativity and brainstorming. So let’s brainstorm this together...

You work best when given a ton of freedom and flexibility and your environment should reflect an airy, unstructured feel to match. The key is to create systems that require minimal maintenance and that don't zap your energy. Use as many hooks as possible and containers with lids that are removable easily, or no lids at all. It’ll also benefit you to create systems and use containers in the same room that you use them.

Your clutter areas tend to be places where you just want to relax simply because you may not take the time to consider where things should go in the first place. (Pro tip: focus on one area or one flat surface at a time, and make a conscious effort to eliminate distractions prior to getting organized.)

DESIGN TIPS!

  • Use open storage and open space - high ceilings, modern colors, natural lighting, mirrors, and anything else that helps your thoughts expand.

  • Store your materials or belongings vertically (wall hanging baskets for example)

  • Aim for an unstructured look: loose pillows thrown on the floor for reading and relaxing.

  • Abstract patterns and geometric shapes can provide you with mental stimulation plus variety.

  • Consider eye catching visuals or creative storage ideas for a fun way to ensure you get and stay organized.

PRODUCTIVITY // TIME

Time management for you requires a major attitude adjustment. Spontaneity is where you rule supreme, but it’s important to open up to the possibility that time is your friend! It’s there to help you because recording future plans isn't a burden but rather strengthens your pursuit of your dreams. Learning to write things down is a great first step. But keep it simple, broad and not too rigid.

Use your intuition to determine what you will do next, but begin by understanding where your time goes. Then you can devise a simple roadmap to refer to throughout the day which ensures you to stay on track. Choose three or less tasks to focus on while taking breaks to be creative and reset in order to get them done to completion. Without room to move around within your calendar, you will eventually feel stifled and perform poorly. A calendar that is full of tiny commitments, will suffocate you encouraging you to retreat rather than rise and meet deadlines. Consolidating your days into chunks of time (morning afternoon or even a complete day) will help!
